Treat people how you want to be treated
People often refer to that common phrase ‘treat people how you want to be treated’. I disagree with this immensely for one main reason. As a business owner, I purchase from many suppliers, whether it’s for my website, marketing activities, recruitment agencies etc., and as a customer I am a very laid back, understanding customer, who requires minimal or no support.
I wish all my clients were like me; however, some of them are the exact opposite, therefore if I treated them how I want to be treated, it would cause issues and I’d have some very unhappy customers. So, I have amended this saying to ‘treat people how they want to be treated’; this way I am able to adapt to the clients’ needs and provide them with the support that they want as opposed to what I’d be happy with.
